Havixbeck

Havixbeck is the birthplace of the famous poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff and a delightful destination for castle enthusiasts and those interested in sandstone. Hülshoff Castle alone is worth a trip to Havixbeck. In addition, you will find numerous other Münsterland sights in the vicinity of Havixbeck.

Havixbeck: The birthplace of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff

The poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff was born in 1797 at Hülshoff Castle and wrote some of her most famous works here and in the neighbouring Haus Rüschhaus. The best thing to do is to visit the whole complex, the house, the beautiful historic park and the Droste Museum. Or you can follow in the author's footsteps on the poetry trail.

On the tracks of the sandstone

Also worth a visit in Havixbeck is the Baumberger Sandsteinmuseum. Here you can learn a lot of interesting facts about the processing and use of sandstone. Discover and experience the pleasant rural surroundings on a cycling and hiking tour. This should be followed by refreshments with regional specialities: home-brewed cool beer and Westphalian dishes in Klute's Historisches Brauhaus.

The highest mountain range in the Münsterland

The Baumberge mountains rise up in the otherwise rather flat landscape of the Münsterland. Between the towns of Billerbeck and Coesfeld and the municipalities of Havixbeck, Nottuln and Rosendahl, you will find one of the largest contiguous areas of beech forest in the region. The landscape is particularly worth seeing in spring when the rape fields are in bloom.

Classical sounds at Haus Stapel

Haus Stapel, which is somewhat hidden away, is completely rented out and therefore cannot usually be entered. However, a few times a year the magnificent house opens its doors so that visitors can experience parts of the estate in the context of concerts. The open-air concerts in June and July are particularly popular, and up to 400 guests may attend.
