Events in Lengerich

The popular annual summer reading club will start again on 2 July 2024 at the Lengerich public library.

The aim is to have collected at least three stamps in a logbook by the end of the holiday. This can be done on site at the library or online. Successful participants receive a certificate and can take part in the closing event on 31 August. Here, "Oscars" will be awarded in various categories and great prizes will be raffled off. More detailed information can be found on the Lengerich public library website.

A classic weekly market is combined with a culinary-social event. Tuesdays from 4 - 7:30 pm on the Stiftshof grounds in Leeden.

Every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year, the Lengerich weekly market in the car park on the Edeka site invites you to visit and buy fresh produce.

From 7.00 am to 12.30 pm, a large number of traders offer a colourful range of fish and meat, fruit and vegetables, cheese and baked goods, as well as plants and decorative items.

For creative SLC participants aged 6 to 9 years old

We make beautiful colourful coasters from blank CDs. Participation in this event is worth a stamp in our logbook. Registration is via the Lengerich Youth Centre's holiday programme.

The "Rock am Rathaus" event has become a cult event.
On 8 Thursdays, very different music will once again be presented under the plane tree on the town hall square.
The organising team is sure that the town hall square will once again be bursting at the seams. So don't miss this event and enjoy the "summer in the city".

For creative SLC participants

Does your SLC logbook urgently need a bit of colour? In the library there are stickers, smileys and of course lots of glitter to spice up the logbook. Of course, there is a stamp for particularly beautiful logbooks.

With the nature park rangers through 5 million years of geological history

5 million years of the earth's history can be explored in the Dyckerhoff quarry in Lengerich; that's how wide the time span is from the geologically oldest layer in the quarry to the geologically youngest layer of the quarry. This is a total of 4 kilometres on foot. The route is reminiscent of alpine conditions, there are 100 metres of altitude to overcome and the path is very stony in places, but the views of the Münsterland are all the more beautiful for it. In order to meet the many requests from fossil collectors and other nature enthusiasts, the Teutoburg Forest Interest Group (ig Teuto), in cooperation with the TERRA.vita Nature and Geopark, will once again be offering regular guided tours of the quarry every third Saturday of the month in the coming summer months, during which there will also be plenty of opportunities to collect fossils.

Two knowledgeable "rangers" will accompany the excursion groups through the quarry. The meeting point is at 2 p.m. at the circular hiking trail car park on Lienener Straße, which is located between the Dyckerhoff cement works and the Lengerich-Hohne Protestant church.

Anyone wishing to collect fossils should bring a hammer and a rucksack. Cycle helmets for children are permitted. For safety reasons, children must be accompanied by an adult. Sturdy shoes are mandatory! Participants can expect an approx. 4-hour hike in moderately difficult terrain. Guests are therefore requested to take sufficient food and drink with them.

The following also applies to the geological tours: Participants should bring their own protective equipment if possible: Helmet/bicycle helmet, yellow waistcoat, gloves, safety goggles, own hammers.
