Volksbank Münster Marathon
From a sporting event to a cross-city event. The annual Volksbank Münster Marathon, which takes place in September, has become a real highlight in the Westphalian city. With around 300 artists, 100,000 spectators and more than 9,000 participants, the Münster Marathon is one of the largest running events in Germany. A varied supporting programme with bands, spectacular artists and cheerleading groups creates an exciting atmosphere along the course. Not only the guests benefit from the exuberant atmosphere, the marathon participants also enjoy the cheering audience. After all, they can only complete the 42.195 kilometres with active support!

Competitions for everyone
On 8 September 2024, it's not just top athletes who will be taking on the 42.195-kilometre course. From hobby runners and company running groups to fit youngsters, everyone will find the perfect competition at the Volksbank Münster Marathon: be it the relay marathon, the 2/3 marathon over approx. 28 km, the charity run (10 km) and the health run (approx. 6 km), each without time recording, as well as the special handicraft marathon and the Studi-Cup.

Our tip for Münster
Do you like castles and palaces, gardens and parks or do you just love to feel the charm of historical buildings? Then why not combine the city festival at the Volksbank Münster Marathon with a visit to other sights or a short stroll through the beautiful streets of Münster. You don't even have to take your eyes off the marathon. The Münster Marathon starts at the imposing Münster Castle, with the Botanical Garden directly behind it. Or perhaps you prefer something a little quieter? The charming Haus Rüschhaus is located just outside Münster in the countryside in the direct vicinity of the running course. The perfect opportunity to cheer on the runners away from the hustle and bustle. And don't forget the breathtaking finish on Prinzipalmarkt directly in front of the Westphalian Peace Town Hall in the heart of Münster's historic old town.
