The historic Stiftsplatz forms the picturesque setting for numerous events in the town centre. In the calendar of events you will find, for example, the Winter Festival or the Martinimarkt. The events in the district of Appelhülsen also enjoy a good reputation.

For the third time in a row, a STEIN-BILDHAUEREI WORKSHOP will be held in the farm garden on the ALTER HOF SCHOPPMANN site in 48301 Nottuln-Darup. The instructor, TENDAI RUKODZI, is an artist and stone sculptor who comes to Münsterland from Zimbabwe. The TiRiPo African Art project was launched jointly by Berthold Ochtrup (Nottuln-Darup) and Tendai Rukdozi in 2019. The aim is to support local artists (sculptors, metalworkers and carvers) and their families. In the workshop, participants will learn more about the sculpting process in Zimbabwe from the internationally recognised Tendai Rukodzi (born 1973). The stone sculptures are created through communication with the serpentine stone to be worked, which only exists in Zimbabwe. This stone is considerably harder than our Baumberg sandstone. This stone also comes in different colours. The workshop offers: Springstone, Serpentine (green, brown), Dolomite, Leopard Rock and Opal.

Summer holiday workshop in Nottuln
"My home(s)": Urban sketching and poetry
The art of drawing meets word acrobatics.
In this holiday workshop, we will combine art forms over 4 afternoons.
Under the project theme "Home", we will combine the two art forms of urban sketching and modern poetry.
The workshop will take place both in the studio on Kirchplatz and at locations in the Stiftsdorf. There we will draw on site. Participation is possible on one or all four days. Registration is necessary.
Workshop content:
With their drawings, urban sketchers try to show places and life as they perceive it with their eyes. Urban sketching also sees itself as a kind of counter-movement to fast consumption. A photo is taken quickly, a drawing slows things down. If we also try to put the feeling for a place/people into words, we realise our own deeper expression through the search for words.
Lecturer: Anke Maria Zandman. Freelance artist, art teacher and editor.
