The Steinfurt Eight

The cycle tour leads like a figure eight around the district town of Steinfurt. The ideal starting point for the 54.5 km route is Burgsteinfurt's market square. Only a few metres away is the imposing Water castle of Steinfurt. The outer castle in particular is a popular photo motif. The cycle path continues into the shady woods of the Bagno Park with its unique concert gallery. On the way towards Borghorst, the landscape widens and fields and meadows accompany you all the way to the picturesque town of Horstmar.

Horstmar is known for its historic Burgmannshöfe and the town hall, which is well worth seeing. The charming cafés of the town invite you to take a first rest. The cycle tour then heads north again to the small district of Horstmar-Leer. Since 2013, the water mill of the village has once again been rattling to the beat of the Leerbach stream. Already back in the urban area of Steinfurt is the circle educational garden; a MUST for those interested in gardening. Back on the market square, the restaurants invite you to take an extended break.

The Hollicher Mühle is beautifully situated on the northern loop of your cycle tour, which takes you to the small town of Wettringen. Take a look at the Heimathaus Wettringen and don't miss the romantic Haus Welbergen near Ochtrup. The small castle is one of the most beautiful historic sites in Münsterland. You can then cycle back to Steinfurt through the region's parkland.
