Dealers and private sellers offer bargain hunters and bookworms a wide range of products. Whether richly illustrated children's books, out-of-print specialist literature or some bibliophile treasures - everyone can find what they are looking for at the Ramsdorf book market.

But you can also browse to your heart's content beyond the book market on the first Sunday in September in Ramsdorf, as the shopkeepers invite you to stroll around from 13:00.

Visitors then have the opportunity to find out about the latest trends and pick up some bargains at the book market.

Sellers and visitors appreciate the relaxed atmosphere of the entire book market in Ramsdorf. Many traders have been attending the market since its première ten years ago.

Every year, numerous book lovers from the region take the opportunity to stock up on second-hand reading material for little money.

Retailers in Ramsdorf and Velen are taking part in the "Heimat shoppen" campaign on 13 and 14 September.

With this campaign, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) North Westphalia, together with the NRW Westphalia Münsterland Trade Association and with the support of Sparkasse Westmünsterland, is promoting shopping in the local area.

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of how important local retailers are for vibrant and attractive city centres and town centres. The IHK and trade association want to sensitise consumers to how their shopping behaviour also affects the structures on their doorstep. "Heimat shoppers" strengthen the local economy, secure jobs and apprenticeships and ultimately ensure vibrant city centres. The "Heimat Shops" in Ramsdorf and Velen attract visitors to the town through various campaigns to explain the advantages of a strong local retail trade to their customers.

On 27 September 2024, the event "Enjoy-Read-Discover" will once again take place in Ramsdorf Castle at 19:00.

We learn about the history of Ramsdorf Castle and then hike on a wooded and hilly route through sand and heath to Gemen Castle.

After around 2.5 km, we visit an old manor and then hike through the cultural and historical landscape of the eastern mountains. The route takes us through burial mounds dating back thousands of years to the early Bronze Age and later through a medieval woodland. After around 2.5 hours, we "climb" the 92.5 metre high Lünsberg.

After the "descent", we walk through forest, sand and heath over the Fliegerberg and walk the remaining 3.3 km to Gemen Castle. Once there, we learn about the history of the knight's castle and stop off at the idyllically situated "Ristorante Bellini" at around 14:30/15:00.

After refreshments, we take the R51 bus back to Ramsdorf at ...06.

Comments: The refreshment stop is part of the programme for all participants and is to be paid for by the participants themselves. The return journey to Ramsdorf is organised, costs € 2.00/person, visit to Haus Röllinghoff € 1.00/person. Please bring: suitable footwear and weatherproof clothing, refreshments and food if necessary. Route: ~14 km, (the route is easy to medium)
