The nearest railway station is in Borken, approx. 12 km from Velen and 7 km from Ramsdorf. The station is regularly served by regional trains from Essen, Bottrop, Gladbeck and Dorten. From Ramsdorf, junctions 71 and 72 lead to Velen.
