Wettringen

Wettringen is a community with heart and tradition, "Dat Hiärtken van de Wiält" - as a Low German poet once put it. The municipality is located where the Aa and Vechte rivers meet. Wettringen: It is also one of the most bicycle-friendly places in the whole of Germany. In the ADFC Cycling Climate Test 2022, the municipality came first in the class of up to 20,000 inhabitants.

Castle romance right in the neighbourhood

Located close to the Dutch border and the border to Lower Saxony, Wettringen is an ideal starting point for tours and trips through the beautiful Münsterland. Numerous signposted hiking, cycling and riding trails offer the opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside on your own. The Kloster Bentlage in Rheine, Haus Welbergen in Ochtrup and the Schloss Steinfurt exude castle romance in the Wettringen area. The area around the Rothenberg, the Brechte nature reserve and the heaths around Lake Haddorf offer beautiful views of nature.
