The Teutschleife Canyonblick is a dreamlike hiking trail for nature lovers. More than 700 metres of altitude are spread over a total length of 11 kilometres. Grandiose views of the Lengerich Canyon and the Osnabrück Cathedral as well as beautiful forests are characteristic of the hiking trail.
The starting point for your hike on the signposted Teutoschleife is the picturesque cemetery chapel in Lengerich. Only a few minutes' walk after the start, the trail leads uphill into the heights of the Teutoburg Forest. As soon as you leave the forest behind, you are rewarded with a view of Lengerich from the "Max und Moritz" hikers' hut.
For the next few minutes, the hiking trail leads through meadows and along the edge of the forest to the four bridal ponds. The cosy resting place invites you to take a relaxing break. No sooner have you crossed the Leedener Mühlenbach stream than the church towers of the small monastery village of Leeden come into view. Take some time and marvel at the collegiate church and the former abbess's house from the 15th century.
Behind Leeden, the path now leads out to the highest point of the hike. From the vantage point at the former Lusthäuschen, the landscape opens up to a magnificent panoramic view. On a clear day you can even make out the towers of Osnabrück Cathedral on the horizon.
The trail continues mostly downhill through meadows and small forests to the Stapenhorst estate. Behind the path you now hike upwards again to approach the highlight of the tour: the turquoise water of the canyon will impress you and is a great photo motif. The flora and fauna that have found a home in the nature reserve are unique. It is worthwhile to plan some time for a stay here. Now it is not far to the destination in Lengerich. Through the sculpture park you reach the cemetery chapel again.
