An excursion to the Netherlands, the Rhine as a destination for a day trip or would you rather stroll through the lively city centre of Bocholt? Those who start their cycle tour at Wasserburg Anholt are spoilt for choice. The possibilities seem almost endless on the gradient-free cycle paths between Münsterland, the Lower Rhine and the Netherlands. In addition, there are interesting themed routes such as the 100 Castles Route, the Hohe Mark Nature Park Route or the Lower Rhine Route.
4,500 km of signposted cycle paths criss-cross the Münsterland. The Anholt moated castle can also be reached via the practical junction system. With the junction system, you can easily put together your favourite route with a few numbers.
The cycle tour leads from Anholt Castle on consistently flat cycle paths through the landscape characterised by fields and meadows past Anholter Schweiz to Isselburg. The landscape remains decidedly rural until Bocholt. In Bocholt, the beautiful town centre with its market square and the LWL Textile Museum are well worth a visit. The cycle path leads around the beautifully landscaped Aasee lake. You cycle along the Bocholter Aa to the Dutch border before the circular route ends at Anholt moated castle.
