The countryside around Gemen Castle spreads out far and wide. As is usually the case in Münsterland, the nearest castle is not far away. As a cyclist, you can choose between Velen Castle, Raesfeld Castle and Rhede Castle as your destination, or you can simply combine two castles on your tour. In any case, the cycle paths lead you through the typical park landscape of western Münsterland with almost no climbs. Follow the Bocholter Aa to Bocholt or feel true country lust on the way to Südlohn or Gescher.
4,500 km of signposted cycle paths criss-cross the Münsterland. Gemen Castle can also be reached via the practical junction system. With the junction system, you can easily put together your favourite route with a few numbers.
The starting point of the cycle tour is the wonderful Gemen Castle on the outskirts of Borken. Only a few kilometres beyond Borken is Pröbsting Park. After a look at Haus Pröbsting, a ride on the pedal boat is a good idea. The small town of Rhede, just outside Bocholt, is well worth a visit. Rhede Castle, the small shopping street and the Pharmacy Museum are spread out around the mighty church. The church square is also the ideal place for a rest in one of the ice cream parlours or restaurants. Very rural and quiet, the cycle path leads in a curve back to Borken.
