Hidden behind centuries-old trees in the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest is a historical jewel: the "Jagdschloss Habichtswald" in Tecklenburg-Leeden. The baroque estate is one of the most romantic event locations in the Tecklenburg region. Apart from events, the grounds may only be entered by prior arrangement. So take a look from a distance and enjoy the view of the time-honoured castle with its majestic garden.
Count Anold II of Bentheim-Tecklenburg planned the construction of his magnificent little castle as early as 1590. However, the hunting residence was not completed until 1641, and the majestic Femelinde lime tree in the romantic gardens of the Baroque estate has been there for almost as many days. In the centuries that followed, the owners changed constantly. Among others, the mayor of Lott, Friedrich Wilhelm Rehorst, called the listed house his own, which is why it is also known as Gut Rehorst.
The restaurant and hotel of the Habichtswald hunting lodge are now closed. The private grounds are off limits to visitors. However, the estate can be requested for events or a tour here.
