The private castles in Münsterland are waiting for you along the way: as regional gems, they lie hidden behind hedgerows in beautiful countryside and tell you their story from afar. The private estates are not open to the public. Nevertheless, they are worth seeing and offer interesting stories, because they are often still inhabited by the original Westphalian noble families and passed down from generation to generation. As testimonies of Westphalian architecture, they enrich your cycling tour or your walk.
