Cycling is fun and this is especially true around Raesfeld Castle. There are beautiful cycle paths in all directions. With Gemen Castle in Borken and Lembeck Castle, there are other charming historical buildings as destinations for a cycle tour. A circular tour via Schermbeck and Dorsten takes cyclists to the historic banks of the Lippe. The almost gradient-free cycle paths ensure carefree cycling pleasure and leave enough time for a rest in one of the beer gardens along the tours.
4,500 km of signposted cycle paths criss-cross the Münsterland. Raesfeld Castle can also be reached via the practical junction system. With the node system, you can easily put together your favourite route with a few numbers.
From the fairytale castle of Raesfeld, this route first takes you northwards, where after a short ride through the flat landscape you come across the Bocholter Aa and the Pröbsting Lake. You should definitely take a break here and explore the lake on one of the pedal boats. Then follow the Bocholter Aa towards Rhede. In Rhede, the route takes you right past Rhede Castle. You should definitely take a few minutes to enjoy the magnificent view of the impressive building. After Rhede, the route heads south and through the typical Münsterland park landscape back to Raesfeld Castle. There you should end the day with a walk through the adjacent zoo - a wonderful place to relax and unwind.
Tip for families: If you undertake the cycle tour with the whole family, you will also find the nature experience area at the Schloss Raesfeld zoo. A wonderful place to romp extensively in the fresh air.
