How much do you actually know about bells? How are bells cast, for example? What happens in the bell pit? And what is the difference between false bells, beehive bells and sugar loaf bells? In the Westphalian Bell Museum in Gescher, which is unique in North Rhine-Westphalia, these and other questions about bells are answered in an exciting and entertaining way.
Come along on a journey through the history of bells and learn surprising and unknown facts about the significance of bells - in church life as well as in the secular life of people. The join-in stations in the museum invite visitors of all ages to explore, discover and try things out!
On an area of about 465 m², the museum shows a display collection of about 1,000 pieces of bells, bells and jingles from different centuries and materials. A special highlight is the oldest surviving "sugar loaf bell" in Westphalia from the 12th century. But the four beehive bells from the collegiate church in Vreden also delight visitors. 1,100 years after their destruction, they have been elaborately reconstructed by experts. Not only the bells are on display, but also historical documents, photos and films.
You can also imagine the work of a bell founder at a faithfully reconstructed workplace. The museum also has its own brass foundry. This is used for demonstration purposes, among other things.

A theatre play for people aged 4 and over about rich and poor, true friendship and the hunt for a stinking dragon
Princesses have everything. They are loved by everyone. Being a princess is great, isn't it? No!!! Being a princess is terribly exhausting: always sitting still and straight, smiling regally and bowing, or practising spoon times tables. Princess Tilly doesn't want to do that any more.
One day Tonja, the daughter of a knight, gets lost in Tilly's room - an exciting adventure begins for both of them as they battle the roaring and stinking dragon. By recognising each other's strengths and weaknesses, a courageous and unusual friendship develops between the two unequal girls.

Das Stück geht ca. 60 Minuten ohne Pause.
Whether poetry, comedy, cabaret or storytelling. Whether short story or poem, read, shouted or whispered - anything that comes from your own pen and fits into a narrow time slot of six minutes may be performed.
Word artists compete with their texts for the audience's favour and the Golden Bell. The winner at the end of the evening is decided solely by the loudest applause, which will impressively disprove the prejudice of the stubborn Westphalians.
The evening in the theatre and concert hall will be hosted by Marian Heuser. The event is being organised in cooperation with WoW Poetry Slam and the city of Gescher.
