The Tecklenburg open-air stage has occupied a top position among Germany's open-air stages for years. Outstanding performers, a wonderful location and always new and surprising musicals ensure that the seats are always well filled.
In addition to musicals for adult guests, the Freilichtbühne Tecklenburg also shines with special productions for children. The stories are told with great attention to detail and enchant the audience. Many of the productions can only be seen in Germany in Tecklenburg.
The Tecklenburg open-air theatre is Germany's largest open-air theatre. The more than 750-year-old castle ruins can seat more than 2,300 visitors. The venue is picturesquely situated a little above the old town of Tecklenburg. It is worth arriving a little earlier to spend some time in the beautiful alleys and squares of Tecklenburg.
You can find the complete programme on the website of the open-air theatre.
The venue for the open-air plays is Tecklenburg Castle, of which only a ruin remains today. The castle was probably built around 1100 by the Dutch Count of Zütphen to control the important trade route Lübeck-Bremen-Münster-Cologne and to be able to demand customs duties. However, the first documentary mention of the site did not occur until 1184. After many changes of ownership, the castle gradually lost its importance. Attempts were made to turn the Tecklenburg into a fortress. Eventually, however, it was turned into a quarry and fell into ruin. From the second half of the 19th century onwards, the town first turned its attention to the principles of monument preservation and tried to conserve the existing remains. From 1927 onwards, plays were staged in the first courtyard of Tecklenburg Castle. Since 1949, the Tecklenburg has been the venue for the Tecklenburg open-air plays.

Tecklenburg Touristik GmbH traditionally invites you to the open-air summer finale at the Tecklenburg open-air stage. Next year, it will be hosting the Italo Pop Night on Friday, 20.09.2024 at 7 pm. The artist group "I Dolci Signori", which has been successful for years, will present the most popular hits of Italian music!
Italy, dolce vita, the sea and music: I Dolci Signori have all this in their luggage: because the six "sugar-sweet boys" - that's what I Dolci Signori literally means - know how to make the feeling of a sunset in Capri or a romantic gondola ride on the Canale Grande in Venice come alive here with us.
Zucchero, Umberto Tozzi, Al Bano, Ricchi e Poveri and Eros Ramazotti - these names stand for the great Italian hits of the last 40 years that you can't get out of your head. The "Italo Pop Night" conjures up two unforgettable hours of Italian joie de vivre and puts you in the holiday mood with songs like "Senza una donna", "Piu bella cosa", "Gloria" or "Azzurro" by the incomparable Adriano Celentano. But classics like "Volare", "Tu vo fa l 'Americano" and "Caruso" are not missing from the programme either. Musica, Passione, Emozione - this is exactly what the two southern Italian singers Rocky Verardo and Gianni Carrera celebrate together with four internationally successful Spit-zen musicians in an inimitable manner and with great success. The tried and tested ingredients of I Dolci Signori: southern Italian light-heartedness, spiced with the necessary portion of passion, romance, charisma and joie de vivre. A fine mixture of Italo-pop classics and tasteful original compositions.
Visitors can look forward to a unique selection of the most beautiful Italian pop songs of the last decades, packed into a particularly entertaining stage programme!
