You will find a very special picnic spot in Olede-Stromberg, on the Stemich plum farm. The farm is now in its fifth generation of fruit growing. The focus here is on regional cultivation, processing and trading plums. Your picnic area is located directly at the entrance to the farm with a fantastic view of the plum fields and the blossoming trees.
Special tip: your picnic in the Sunday café. The open-air café is open from 12 noon during the harvest season (mid-August to mid-September) and serves plum cake made according to great-grandma's recipe. If you would also like to picnic at the café during the week with a delicious piece of cake, the café is also open for larger groups by prior arrangement. And the best thing is: you can enjoy the view of the orchards during your picnic.
A visit to the farm shop is also worthwhile. Here you will find lots of Stromberger plum treats, including plum purée, plum horseradish, plum ketchup, plum mustard and plum chutney, as well as other regional products. All of the farm's own products bear the regional Münsterland seal.
For more information and interesting details, take a look at the blog post by Paula Pumpernickel from Münsterland Siegel. Here you can find out, for example, that Stromberg has at least three times as many trees as inhabitants.
