Experience castles and palaces in Münsterland

The palaces and castles are the historical, cultural and architectural treasures of the Münsterland. The region is home to more than 100 of these magnificent examples of great architecture. Imposing moated castles, romantic fortresses, manor houses, monasteries and other aristocratic residences inspire visitors and allow them to immerse themselves in times gone by. Many of the estates are open to the public and invite you to visit their museum, café or as part of an event. However, houses that cannot be experienced from the inside often open their idyllic parks to guests. Here they can go for a walk, take photos of the beautiful buildings and sometimes even take a picnic break.

The popular picnic at Ahaus Castle will take place again this year to coincide with Castles and Palaces Day on 16 June. Under the motto "Together instead of alone - picnics promote communication", you can once again take a seat at one of the longest picnic tables. With the sun shining brightly, a view of the castle and the beautifully blossoming castle park, the bulging picnic bag tastes even better.
