A circular tour through the Haard

Sandy paths, sandy paths and more sandy paths

The Haard with its dense network of bridleways is a paradise for riders. You can spend a day or even several days on horseback in the shade of the old trees. The Haard circular tour is around 21 kilometres long and is perfect for a nice day's ride on warm summer days. The slightly hilly landscape offers plenty of variety and far away from the main roads you can enjoy a relaxed ride with your horse in Münsterland.

Your day ride in the Haard

The circular tour through the Haard is mainly on sandy paths or natural forest floors and is also easy to manage for inexperienced trail riders. Only in the area of the Rennberg, a large elevation, are there more difficult sections for riders, but with a little training these can also be mastered. The Haard has five trail riding car parks, all of which can be used for this circular tour. Our tour tip starts at the Bossendorf trail riding car park in the north of the forest area. The actual circular route begins around 800 metres south of the car park.

There are always good opportunities for breaks during the circular tour. As the area is virtually uninhabited, you should definitely take a saddlebag picnic with you. On the Rennberg, you will pass a fire watch tower, which serves as a lookout point. If you get the chance, be sure to take the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful view over the Hohe Mark Nature Park for a brief moment.
